Mark 2:14
As He passed by, He saw Levi the son of Alphaeus sitting at the tax office. And He said to Him, “Follow Me.” So he arose and followed Him.
In Luke 4, Jesus explains that in the days of Elijah, there were many widows but Elijah was only sent to the one in Zarephath. And in the days of Elisha, there were many lepers, but only Naaman was cleansed.
Also there is the parable of the lost sheep in Luke 15, in which the shepherd goes after the one.
Jesus’ style of ministry is so encouraging. He’s not upset with us because we didn’t preach the gospel to every human we came in contact with. He even let people walk away, because He knew men’s hearts. Not everyone is ready to turn from their sins, to let Jesus take the guilt and punishment for their sins, or to walk in newness of a deepening relationship with God! But some are. Some are.
Today don’t walk in condemnation or fear or guilt because you’re not constantly preaching. Jesus preached a lot, but that’s not all He did. There is a time for everything. Be led by the Holy Spirit right now, right now, right now. Let the Spirit lead you to the Matthews, the Naamans, the Zarephath widows, to the lost sheep. Remember, not everyone is ready, but some are. Be in communion and conversation with the Holy Spirit. He will lead you to the conversations, and in the conversations. Trust Him. Abide in Him. Walk in the joy of the gospel, and be on the lookout! Be looking constantly for that opportunity to share God’s awesome news of salvation by faith alone. He will cause you to live a supernatural life that is pleasing to the Father. Enjoy the Lord Jesus, and the work of His Spirit in your life today.
