A song of praise to God By Samuel Stennett

Posted by Adam Dobbs on February 27, 2010 with 0 Comments

To God the universal King,
Let all mankind their tribute bring;
All that have breath, your voices raise,
In songs of never-ceasing praise.

The spacious earth on which we tread,
And wider heavens stretched o’er our head,
A large and solemn temple frame
To celebrate its builder’s fame.

Here the bright sun that rules the day,
As through the sky he makes his way,
To all the world proclaims aloud
The boundless sovereignty of God.

When from his courts the sun retires,
And with the day his voice expires,
The moon and stars adopt the song,
And through the night the praise prolong.

The listening earth with rapture hears
The harmonious music of the spheres;
And all her tribes the notes repeat,
That God is wise, and good, and great.

But man, endowed with nobler powers,
His God in nobler strains adores;
His is the gift to know the song,
As well as sing with tuneful tongue.

The Initial Taste of God’s Sure Promise

Posted by Chris Mitten on February 23, 2010 with 0 Comments

In Exodus 5:5,9, Pharoah says, “Look, you make them rest from their labor! Hmmm. Let more work be laid on them!”
Sometimes God gives us a little taste of freedom, of rest, a little light, but soon after MORE difficulty than before! Is the promise of no effect? Of course not. Do not be afraid, wait patiently and see the salvation of the Lord (Ex.14:13). Though it tarries wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry (Hab. 2:3).

Hymn 295

Tell me the story of Jesus; write on my heart every word.
Tell me the story most precious, sweetest that was ever heard.
Tell how the angels in chorus, sang as they welcomed his birth:
“Glory to God in the highest! peace and good tidings to earth!” Read More

Ps. 27:4 “One thing I have desired of the Lord, that will I seek: That I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life,…”

Have you even pondered the thought of what life would be like if you were fully dependent on God? What does it mean to fully trust the will and works of our El Shaddai. (“all sufficient God”)? Read More

David Crowder “O praise Him”

This is a powerful video. All of us can somehow relate to the guy in this video. Just think how sweet it would be to finally get past our surroundings and fall on our knees and praise the King! We hope it blesses you!

God’s Love or My “Love”

Posted by David Izor on February 6, 2010 with 0 Comments
John 21:17

He said to him the third time, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you love me?”  Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, “Do you love me?”And he said to Him “Lord, You know all things you know that I love You.”

Have you ever noticed that its easier to serve the Lord at moments of strength? Sometimes we claim to love God with all our heart; we cheerfully serve the Lord with gladness- not by obligationy; We serve Him because it is a pleasure, not because we should;  We consider others more important than ourselves, we’ll even give the shirt right off our back and go “without” so someone else can “go with.” But before you know it, we fail and we fail hard. We find ourselves with a bad attitude; we find ourselves being selfish and tired of being “Christ-like.” Read More

The Glorious Moment of Obedience

Posted by David Izor on February 5, 2010 with 0 Comments

You who fear God, listen: God desires complete obedience.  Even if it hurts you or others.  Ps. 15 teaches that those who will ascend His holy Hill keep their oath even when it hurts.  This pleases God.  This blesses God.  Remember Jesus,  who obeyed His Father even to the point of death- by excruciating crucifixion.   Love obeys God to the end no matter what it is.

Think about the contrast of character between David and Saul.  Do you know why Saul was rejected by God, and why David was accepted?  The scripture is quite clear.  It was a matter of obedience. Read More

Crucify your Flesh

Mark 1:35

Now in the morning having risen a long while before daylight, He went out and departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed.

Perhaps 3 or 4 in the morning, our Lord did one of two things. One of two things must have went through his head, either He had to “crucify His flesh” and throw himself out of bed that morning because he needed to gain spiritual strength for the following day, or He was in such a sweet and joyful place with His Father, that He woke up with a rush of joy because He was so overwhelmed by the love of His Father, and He just had to spend some more time with Him. Mark 2:14

As He passed by, He saw Levi the son of Alphaeus sitting at the tax office.  And He said to Him, “Follow Me.”  So he arose and followed Him.

In Luke 4, Jesus explains that in the days of Elijah, there were many widows but Elijah was only sent to the one in Zarephath.  And in the days of Elisha, there were many lepers, but only Naaman was cleansed. Read More
