Crucify your Flesh

Mark 1:35

Now in the morning having risen a long while before daylight, He went out and departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed.

Perhaps 3 or 4 in the morning, our Lord did one of two things. One of two things must have went through his head, either He had to “crucify His flesh” and throw himself out of bed that morning because he needed to gain spiritual strength for the following day, or He was in such a sweet and joyful place with His Father, that He woke up with a rush of joy because He was so overwhelmed by the love of His Father, and He just had to spend some more time with Him.

My vote is that He had to “crucify His flesh.”  That means He was tired, even exhausted, and did not want to get out of bed.  But He valued the things of the “Spirit” more than His own personal comfort.  He wanted and needed to be in line with what God His Father was doing NOW, not what His personal desires were nagging Him to do. “Walk in the Spirit and you will not fulfill the lust of the flesh.” Gal. 5:16

Today, you must deny yourself, take up your cross and follow Jesus. “Crucify your flesh.”  Get in the presence of God.  Get your marching orders for today.  When this becomes your lifestyle, you will find yourself in such a sweet and joyful place with your Jesus that you end up with an adrenaline rush of joy because you are so overwhelmed by the love of your Father, that you just have to spend some more time with Him through the Son of His Love. May you go with God today Coast, and in the strength of HIS might.
